Sayvonn Houston claims Cape Verdean ACVB weekly honour

American Sayvonn Houston (201-C) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Terra Branca Pitbulls and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 13.
The center had the game-high 28 points adding eight rebounds for Terra Branca in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Brava Magic (#9, 3-11) 77-73. It allowed Terra Branca to consolidate first place in the Cape Verdean ACVB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Terra Branca has a very solid 10-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Houston had a remarkable 92.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Terra Branca, through which he has constantly improved. Pine Manor College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Houston is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.9ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.1rpg) and averages solid 75.2% FGP and 42.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Mike Rodriguez of second-ranked Lenfer. Rodriguez impressed basketball fans with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Lenfer was edged by slightly lower-ranked Bairro (#4, 8-6) 68-67. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Lenfer still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 10-4 record is not bad at all. Rodriguez is one of the most experienced players at Lenfer and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.1ppg (#1). He also recorded 4.2 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Lenfer's star - Mike Rodriguez. Rodriguez showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Rodriguez's great performance the Lenfer lost 67-68 to #4 ranked Bairro. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Lenfer needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 10 victories and 4 lost games. Rodriguez has a great season in Cape Verde. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.1ppg (best scorer) and assists with 4.2apg (7th best).
